Aiming for more efficient and Earth-friendly logistics

Modal shift means conversion of the means of transport from one mode to another. While environmental protection and energy conservation are promoted in all industries, there are an increasing number of voices among logistics industry calling for more energy-efficient means of transport.
More specifically, modal shift from road transport to maritime or railway transport has been promoted today. Both maritime and railway transport are capable of transporting a larger volume and reducing CO2 emissions. Hopefully, they will also be able to fix problems associated with the road transport such as shortage of truck drivers and overall diminishing workforce due to declining birthrate and aging population.
